    Default Castlevania Chronicles on PSN

is there a difference between the castlevania chronicles now available for download from the playstation store and the castlevania chronicles released in 2001. psn claims this is never before released outside of japan. it looks just like the one i have sitting on my shelf.

    This is all i found.

The remake features improved graphics, remixed music, level redesigns as well as a rendered introduction and ending.
...and this says differently about the original regions of release for the game when it was re-released on the PSX.

(The original Sharp X68000 version never got released outside of Japan though since the Sharp X68000 was a JP only console)

    A little more...

It's hard to track down a copy of Castlevania Chronicles for PSone, but now you needn't bother: It's available today as a PlayStation 3 download.

Chronicles is a remake of a remake. It's based on the version of the first game in the vampire-hunting action game series that was released in 1993 for a Japanese personal computer called the X68000.

It's actually a rather intricate port: There's a version with new graphics and music, but if you want to play it as it originally appeared on the computer, you can do that too -- even going so far as to choose which of the X68000's various aftermarket audio module add-ons you want to emulate.

At $6, that's not a bad deal at all for series fans. Especially since Sony's PSone download section is such an inexplicably barren wasteland, and especially because Virtual Console sucks now too.

Just what I thought. It's the psx version, not a revamp of it. Well..Guess I'll have a look at the market or pawn shops for a copy. If I find one, I'll post it in the psx eboot section. Keep your fingers crossed...:

I used popstation GUI 3 beta. I use it for all my eboots now. It seems to fix alot of compatability problems for some games. So far its the best converter I've used. I even used it to convert Resident evil 3 and I got by all the freezes with no problems. The copy I made with psx2psp and icetea both froze on different pops at the clock tower and the spot where you get the fire hose.I had to switch between pops to get past it for those, then switch back. PSGUI3beta I didn't. Castlevania is working perfectly. I've been playing it on 371 pops, and so far no freezes or crashes.
