Default PSP Slim Sudden Home Screen/UMD Problem

Recently my PSP started going crazy. When I hard off the thing and turn it on again (after the Sony Entertainment line) the thing loads for like an eternity. I found out later that opening the UMD slot solves the problem. Sometimes when I'm in the main screen, a "Disc could not be read" line pops up. Later, I was playing a game right, then without notice the "Do you want to exit the game?" menu appears. That problem goes away too by opening the UMD slot.

I tried everything. I flashed the thing, I turned off all UMD related System Settings, still nothing.

Anyone ever experienced this? Any fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to anyone(s).

randomly asking if you want to quit the game sounds like an issue with the strip that has your home, volume, brightness, select, start etc buttons on it. an easy fix....just buy a replacement strip, pull the old one and insert the new. very easy repair. as far as the umd issue, i have 2 questions...
    1. do you have umd auto-start turned on?
    2. why the hell do you have a umd in your psp anyway? lol

I don't have UMD in my PSP. The thing is, every time I boot up my PSP, it automatically looks for a UMD and tries to load it even though it doesn't have one and even though the UMD auto-start is off. After the Sony Entertainment intro, you can't see any icons/menus. You can only see the wavy thing of the original theme and the circle icon that indicates that it's loading. The icons/menus will only appear once you open the UMD slot and close it and after a while the "Disk could not be read" message appears. I tried playing an iso game and have had the same "Do you want to exit the game" issue.
I've tried formatting flash1 and reset settings but still having the same problem. Speed in UMD/ISO is set to default, disabled all plugins, UMD ISO mode is still M33 driver, UMD auto-start is off. Also tried using Keycleaner a while ago but everything is ok. I still have the 5.50 GenD2 cfw, will upgrading to GenD3 fix this issue?

vamp strip theory is right. it'll fix your random (home button) press.

now with the long time delay with the start up: is it hacked? (I'm assuming you have a hacked psp because you said you "flashed" the psp i just don't know the firmware so i'm gana assume it's in the 5.50gen serious because m33 doen't have much issues with most plugins <well exept the newest ones made only for GEN> please be more specific next time when you post)

1:turns out that hacked psp (especially with gen) will take for ever and sometimes even turn off after doing nothing but loading the plug-ins* from the memory card. it'll be in your best intrists to check for update to the plug-ins or fixes to plug-in if its the problem.

    * (or 2): to test out if its really your plug-ins, first take out your memory card and turn on your psp. keep in mind how long it took to load. afterward put in to memcard and turn it hard shut off, then turn on. if it takes longer or if freezes check your plug-ins.

3: if the psp takes the same amount of time to load up with or without the memory card and you flashed it then it could be the UMD trying to auto start but having problems booting. BUT if you don't have autostart then i got nothing.
