Maybe one of the previous steps reset the battery? I've been holding L whilst switching on the console since attempting to mod the CFW 24 hours ago

Try putting the MMS first, Hold L & then Put the Battery...
Thats how i fixed My old 2k when I had it
EDIT: if the Battery is really a Pandora the PSP will turn on by itself as soon as the battery gets put in w/o the charger...

I left the console at work as I was worried that I'd end up throwing it.
I'll try holding L while I put the battery in on Monday. Any other suggestions are greatly welcomed

Right....sorry about the absence. You repartitioned lflash, which shouldn't result in a brick. However, if it is indeed bricked it would be a software issue. The problem we have is that your PSP comes from a time when modding was far less clean and simple and as such there's no clue of it's history of mods. It's difficult to predict every complication in that case, and i'd say you're just mightily unlucky.
The way a Pandora + MMS works is that the battery tells the PSP to load everything from the MS. That way it ignores any changes made to the PSP. From the message you gave earlier it about the TM IPL it sounds like you have a dodgy MS (fake most likely) as there wasn't enough space for that partition....the first step is ensuring you have a good MS to work with.
Then it's the Pandora. We have no guarantee you actually have one. The most sensible plan would just be to ebay/gumtree a Pandora battery to ensure you actually have one.
It's not fully borked...it's just comatose....god knows why it went pfft! though.
It's also holding R then turning the PSP on that results in recovery.
In addition as mentioned a Pandora battery put in a PSP which is off and disconnected from the mains should result in it automatically powering up without you touching the switch.
