Regarding PSP Original Firmware 4.01
I need some help here. My friend who has just bought a PSP with an OFW 4.01 is facing some problems. Apparently the shopkeeper told him that in order to play PSX & PSP games, he'd have to convert the files into PBP format. This will mean CSO/ISO have to be converted into PBP, which is unlikely right? Is there any way of checking under the recovery mode whether his PSP has been modded to play w/o UMD & is PSX-play enabled? Because when I asked my friend to check his CFW under system info, it only shows 4.01 (w/o the M33-1/2/3/4). Is the 4.01 firmware that different from say 3.71M33-4 in terms of the format of PSX games which it can support?
And on a side note, I'd just wanna find out if ver 4.01 is completely hackable?
Many thanks!

PSX= EBOOT.pbp
PSP= ISO, CSO
That shopkeeper is a stupid noob.
Unless the psp says m33-2 in system software info, you can't run any games except official stuff (UMD's) & you can't access RECOVERY MODE. ISO,CSO and eboots will not run. Also, any psp is hackable, just as long as your friend doesn't have a ta-88v3 motherboard in his psp or have a 3000 model. All you need to do is make a magic memorystick and pandora battery to install cfw. Since you already have a hacked psp, both should be fairly easy to make.

Thanks, we just wanted to confirm if my fren's PSP has indeed been modded. Looks like it hasn't and a confrontation with e shopkeeper would be inevitable.....
