From what i read and researched you can downgrade to "ANY" CFW...
and by any it's most likely to be 5.00 M33-6 and under... people stated that they could Downgrade from 5.50GEN A even if it doesn't supports it but ppl at 5.50 GEN B are getting errors...

: it works fine as long as you have the appropriate files and an already hacked psp. i dont think it will work on non-pandorable psps even if you already have cfw.
