Default New adaptor brings 32GB of cheap microSDHC memory to your PSP

Memory is like the modern-day equivalent of fast cars, or camels. The more you've got, the higher your status in society. Perhaps a bit extreme but, face it, you wouldn't respect someone with an iPod shuffle like you would the owner of a 32GB iPod touch, would you?

So the news PhotoFast is set to follow up its CR-5300 microSDHC adaptor for PSP with the CR-5400 (which offers precisely four times more memory than it's predecessor) is good news for all of us who care about such things. Or those who, more likely, just want to be able to carry around more videos to watch on their PSP.

The CR-5400 microSDHC adaptor supports dual microSDHC cards up to 32GB (so 2x16GB, or other sized cards up to a maximum of 32GB). The advantage of that being that microSDHC (high capacity) memory cards are cheap as chipboard compared to buying the official Sony Pro Duo Memory Stick (which, to put things in perspective, is around 85 for a 16GB card).

There are plenty of adaptors out there already which make microSD compatible with the PSP's memory slot (as well as other Sony products such as camcorders) but not the high capacity versions. And this is also the first to feature slots for two memory cards.

So it all sounds good, then. The only thing is, the product is so new we still don't know how much it will retail for or when you'll be able to get your hands on it.

What we can tell you is the Sweden-based Rejoy.se is the company with exclusive distribution rights (currently seeking retailers and distributors interested in carrying the product) and this is where you can find their site. So, if you want to get your hands on one, keep checking back there for news.
This looks like it could be quite handy actually. 2 memory cards in one PSP!

Bah...that's going to have terrible access speeds (due to the adapter and the card sizes involved). I'm happy with my 4Gb stick....who needs 32Gb anyway?

(...when you report news always include a source link so we know it's reliable and pertinent to today....so this is probably from Pocket Gamer...at least that's where i read it!)

Given it's just two seperate 16gb sticks the PSP shouldn't have a problem....Kiss Of Death can vouch for a 16Gb size stick working just fine.

32GB is massive for a handheld, I'm quite happy with my 1, 2 and 4 GB cards but I do want a 16Gb stick, though I have yet to see one an where over here in the UK, from experience Sony mem cards don't read as fast as SanDisk so preferably I'd like to find a SanDisk 16 gig stick. Where'd you get yours from KOD ?

Yea, 32GB is overkill IMO. 16GB is quite okay. But different people different needs.
I'm happy with my 2GB But planning to upgrade though either 4 or 16GB. So, no 32GB for now.

Sandisk for you here. And surprisingly given Sandisk sticks are usually more expensive than Sony sticks, it's cheaper!

I've read somewhere recently that supposedly they're meant to be putting some form of protection on Sony Mem cards so they will no longer work with Pandora battery or CFW.

Also, I've always found Sandisk cards tend to be cheaper and Sony cards in the UK and they read faster.

maybe this sort of device will have one good thing happen to the market, it may bring the prices of the pro duo cards down. they are pretty expensive, in the meantime i will stick to my 4gb and 2gb cards.

i agree about the Sandisk cards though i have a few Sony cards and a few sandisk and have always found the Sandisk ones out performing the sony as well as being slighty cheaper.
