    Default How to create a magic memory stick, pandora battery & install cfw on a psp

    *
    This is a tutorial for making a MAGIC MEMORY STICK & PANDORA BATTERY. These will allow you to install cfw, unbrick, and downgrade/upgrade any psp to cfw 4.01 m33-2 ( EXCEPT 3000 models, & psp's with ta-88v3 motherboards. BOTH ARE UN-HACKABLE AT THE MOMENT )

    I hope this tutorial will be of some help to anyone who doesn't know how to make a MMS, PANDORA BATTERY, or install CFW on an unmodded psp. I recently modded a friend's psp using this, and many more before that (mine included), so I know this works.

    PLEASE be sure to follow the instructions carefully. If you don't, you run the risk of BRICKING your system. If that does happen, I'll try my best to assist you any way I can to fix it.

    Here's a list of what you'll need:

    * A PSP running CFW (at least 3.71 m33 +) so you can make the MMS & PANDORA BATT.
    * A Memory Stick Pro Duo with at least 128MB of space. ( I recomend SONY or SANDISK. STAY AWAY FROM LEXAR!!!- THEY'RE JUNK. ( I used a 256mb SANDISK & it did the trick just fine) Larger ms's can also be used, but I would suggest not going over 2gb.
    * A spare FULLY CHARGED PSP Battery (PHAT). - 3.6v 1800mAh PHAT BATTERY is what I used.
    * AND THIS pack: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=63FP76SG Which I've put together for this tutorial. It has all the files you will need.

    * PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NEED A PSP WITH CFW TO DO THIS. ALSO, MAKE SURE ANY CUSTOM THEMES YOU HAVE ARE DISABLED ON YOUR PSP!( Go To THEME & select DEFAULT)

    *********************
    * MAGIC MEMORY STICK: *
    *********************

    A. Enter RECOVERY MODE: (Hold the R shoulder button while turning on the psp) go to CONFIGURATION, GAME FOLDER HOMEBREW, and and make sure the GAME folder is set to the 3.Xx OR 4.xx Kernel. Once set, exit recovery mode.

    B. put the MS into the psp. Make sure you copy any files you want to save before moving on to the next step! Once they're gone, they'll be lost forever....

    C. Go to System Settings, Format Memory Stick, and format it.

    D. Connect your PSP to your PC and enter USB mode.

    E. Open the Hellcat's Pandora Installerfor 3.XX Rev3b folder (included with the download) & look for a folder named pan3xx .Copy that to the GAME folder on the memory stick.

    F. Exit USB mode. & go to the Game menu on your PSP and run the Hellcat's Pandora Installer

    G. This next step will delete all data (EVERYTHING) from the memory stick: Press R+X, and confirm with R+L+X to RE-PARTITION and FORMAT the memory stick for PANDORA.

    H. Restart the PSP and enter USB mode again....

    I. All files and folders on the memory stick should now be erased.(you should see nothing but a white screen where all the files used to be) create a new folder and re-name it as PSP . Then create a new folder inside the PSP folder named GAME.(BE SURE TO USE CAPITAL LETTERS FOR NAMING THE FOLDERS.)

    J. copy the pan3xx folder to the GAME folder on the memory stick again.

    K. open the 1.50 OFW folder (included with the download) & Copy the 1.50 update (UPDATE.pbp) to the root of your memory stick.(The root is all that white space you see when you enter USB mode. Click, drag & drop it anywhere in the white section, not inside the PSP folder)

    L. Exit USB mode. go to the Game menu on your PSP and run Hellcat's Pandora Installer.

    M. Press the X button to install the 1.50 firmware to the memory stick.

    N. When the process is finished, press L+X to install the IPL. Once installed,- EXIT.

    O. enter USB mode again....

    P. open the TIME MACHINE_0.1 folder (included) and look for a file named TIMEMACHINE . Copy this to the GAME folder on the memory stick.

    Q. Exit USB mode. Go to the game menu and run Time Machine

    When TIME MACHINE starts, you should see a screen something like this:

    TIME MACHINE INSTALLER

    * Install iplloader on PSP MS boot sector
    * Convert Pandora/DC1-DC4 ipl into TM format
    * Install 1.50 (PHAT)
    * Install 1.50 with 3,40 hw modules (PHAT&SLIM)
    * Install 3.40 oe (PHAT)
    * Install 3.60 m33 (SLIM)

    EXIT

    R. choose "Install IPLloader on PSP MS boot sector," & then select "Convert Pandora/DC1-DC4 IPL into TM format." Once done,- exit

    S. Enter USB MODE (again).......

    T. Open the Despertar del Cementerio v7 folder.(included) Inside, you should see a file named DC7 .Copy that to the GAME folder on the memory stick.

    U. Open the 4.01 ofw folder (included), and place the 4.01.pbp file in the ROOT of the MS (same place as the 1.50 update.pbp file)

    V. Exit USB mode, go to the Game menu and run Despertar del Cementerio v7. This will take a few minutes, so go grab a coffee...

    W. once it is finished installing, the application will ask you "which key(s) would you like to bind DC7 to?" Hold UP on the directional pad untill the app confirms your selection.

    X. Press X to exit

    Y. The program should exit back to the main psp screen.

    Z. If it does, that means everything was successful & you now have a MAGIC MEMORY STICK!

    ******************
    * PANDORA BATTERY: *
    ******************

    Now that you have a MMS, you'll also need a PANDORA BATTERY to install CFW on another unmodded psp, or to UNBRICK yours if anything ever happens to it.

    Here's what to do:

    - Insert the MMS you just made, and the battery you want to convert.

    - Go to the game menu on your psp. Run Hellcat's Pandora Installer.

    - When the installer loads, look for these four options:

    * Press O to convert battery to Pandora
    * Press [] to convert battery to normal
    * Press R+O to write battery serial to file
    * Press R+[] to restore battery serial

    - press R+O to write battery serial to file. THIS IS IMPORTANT if you want to convert it back into a normal battery later on.

    - When that is done, press the O button to convert your battery into a Pandora one.

    - Once the battery is finished converting, you will have your very own PANDORA BATTERY! - Pretty easy wasn't it?

    - EXIT the installer & remove the PANDORA BATTERY from the psp.

    *** To restore the battery to a normal one, run the installer again & press the R+[] buttons, or.... if you didn't back up your serial like you were told to, you can also press []

    That's it. Now you're ready to MOD a psp!

    **************************************************
    * HOW TO INSTALL CFW 4.01 m33-2 ON AN UNMODDED PSP: *
    **************************************************

    Things you will need:

    * A MAGIC MEMORY STICK (the one you just made)
    * A FULLY CHARGED PANDORA BATTERY.( also the one you just made) -MAKE SURE IT IS CHARGED! (put it in the psp for a few hrs & charge it)
    * An unmodded psp (NOT A 3000) Also, it is difficult to tell which slims have a ta-88v3 motherboard. The only way to be sure is to try and install cfw on it. If it won't install, chances are it's ta-88v3.

    READY?...

    A. Take out the normal battery.

    B. Insert the MAGIC MEMORY STICK.

    c. HOLD the "UP" directional button while inserting the PANDORA battery

    D. If you did this correctly, a Menu will appear...You should see:

    * INSTALL 4.01 m33
    * INSTALL 4.01 OFW
    * NAND OPERATIONS
    * HARDWARE Info
    * TEST M33
    * SHUTDOWN
    * REBOOT DEVICE

    E. Select INSTALL 4.01 m33. To begin,-PRESS X

    F. The LED for the MS will begin flashing, and it will say "flashing files etc..on the screen. Wait a few minutes for the install to finish.....

    G. When it is done, press X again to complete the installation. YOU MUST PRESS X !!!!!! PRESSING ANYTHING ELSE WILL BRICK YOUR PSP!!!-YOU"VE BEEN WARNED.

    H. Once you press X, the psp will reboot. Remove the MMS, turn off the system, remove the PANDORA battery, Then reboot the PSP with a regular battery.

    I. Go to System info and look at your software ver. You should now be at CFW 4.01 m33-2! CONGRATS!

    I've tried to cover everything possible, & if I missed something or made any mistakes, please let me know so I can improve on this tutorial.

    Unless you have access to an already custom firmwared PSP you can't follow this guide. In your situation you can take a read of this though...

    Does your slim have cfw installed already? It won't run anything if it doesn't. If not, use the mms & pandora battery you made with your phat and install cfw on the slim.

    I think this messes up your Wifi

    cuz the two other ones i did like stopped working and the wifi switch won't even work and I get an internal error message

    also, they won't play prinny, it's in CSO but it just gives a black screen. Works with megaman X5 tho?

    It worked fine when I used it. I modded mine with this & didn't have any problems. Even helped Wa1rior mod his. Do you have the proper settings? Go into recovery mode- Hold R shoulder button while turning on the psp. Go to CONFIGURATION, set your game folder to 150 kernel, auto run programs at .....DISABLED, UMD MODE set to SONY NP9660 -NO UMD-.
