    Default [Tutorial]Create a REVERSABLE Pandora's Battery(Slim) & an EASY magicstick

This guide is on how to mod an unmodded SLIM PSP (Tested on Phat it worked, also on limited editions) that you can reverse into a normal battery (90% chance).

ALSO YOU DO NOT NEED A PSP ALREADY RUNNNING CFW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Required:

-1G Memory stick PRO DUO MagicGate (the stick that was included with your PSP)

-Safety razor, iron blade or any sharp preferably non-electric conducting utensil.

-PSP Slim/Phat tested on both Slim is easier though.

    -PSP Slim battery ( 3.6V 1200mAh)

    -USB cable

    -Computer/Internet

-Lead, from mechanical pencils, HB #2 pencils.

    -AC/Adapter (Charger)

BACK UP ANYTHING IN YOUR MEMORY STICK BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS.

    1. Start off by creating the magic memory stick.
    2. Download this onto your computer and extract.
    3. Follow the on screen steps in the command window accordingly. Make sure you follow EACH AND EVERY STEP (Very important because one step will screw everything up and you will have to start over)
    4. 4)If are using a Slim, choose 3.71M33. If you're using a phat, choose either one. Just type in the number only and enter.
    DONE

    Pandora's Battery time.
    5. Take out the battery and the razor or blade whatever your using.
    6. CAREFULLY start by cutting back and forth with your blade in a small area on the LEFT side line on the battery. When you find an open spot start to dig in a little and slide all the way around, but be very carefull on the right side because that is where the circuit lies. If you have big nails like I do because I am too lazy to cut them dig in with your nails and slide on an open side on the right until it cracks open or you can snap it open. ( I strongly recommend being carefull if you are still using the steel razor on the right side as it MAY BLOW UP although nothing happened to me. Do not get scared if you hear some cracking in the process of opening just make sure its a neat cut in the line on the sides. Also, on the top right of the battery that little piece there you do not need to go through that, just continue beyond that little black piece.
    7. Once it is opened (finally ), pull back the circuit and start analyzing it carefully.
    8. On the top right of the circuit (top as in where the "black piece thingy was in step 6) you should see thte number 18 with a circle around it. Now look all the way opposite to the left of that 18 and you should see the #19.
    9. There is a golden PCB line that runs through the 19, is the line your going to cut through. (I used a very sharp safety razor for this but I was very cautious not to touch any other areas). Now make a cut through that golden line right above the #1 of the 19. Make sure it is a fine thin cut and disconnects it from touching. DO NOT CUT ANY OTHER PART OF THE LINE.

    10. Close it back up nicely and put a little tape around so it does not fall apart.
    DONE!

    Installing CFW

    1. Insert the magic memory stick in first, then the Pandora's Battery.
    2. If the cutting worked with the battery the POWER light should light up green and the screen lights up but it is still black.
    3. Now plug in the charger let your battery charge for about 20 mins.
    4. Take the charger out and press "x".
    5. You will not see anything on Slim but you will see it happening on phat.
    6. You will know when it is done when it turns off automatically. (If the screen does not light up then you have either messed up on the memory stick. If it does not turn off automatically after pressing "x" wait about 20 mins and press "x" again.

If it turned off that means you have succeeded in installing CFW 3.71M33!

Now to make the battery back to normal

    1. Open up the battery and find the part where you cut.
    2. Take your pencil (preferably mechanical lead pencil) and just scratch in some led in the gap where you cut so that it is fully loaded with lead and blow off any lead particles that cluttered around in the process.
(Since lead is a good conductor of electricity it will subsitute for the the PCB line where you have disconnected)
    3. If you want to keep your magic memory stick leave it the way it is and get another memory stick with a larger capacity (4-8G). Put in a regular memory stick and the battery and it should turn on normally, check your system information on the settings tab and it should say 3.71M33!

If you want to upgrade from 3.71M33+ just download the CFW version you want and extract. Then go to USB mode on your PSP and copy the UPDATE folder from the CFW that you downloaded in the "X:/PSP/GAME" and then exit and run it on your PSP in the games tab.

Whilst i'd probably use a newer MMS creation app than the old TotalNewbi you've chosen for the guide (one of these for example), this is a nice tutorial. Although i'd never recommend anyone mod their own original battery in this way due to the rarity of genuine ones and the ease at which a Pandora can be bought, if you're desperate then this is certainly a good guide.

Hey, if I can do it you can do it. The TotalNewbi MMS creater and the reversable mod is definitely for people who do not want to do anything or spend anything. You could always upgrade from 3.71M33 later so I would not mind the low CFW. I would say Ostinato's tutorial is best for people who can actually spend about $30 on the tool battery.

    2 document things?

When you extract the mms installer format your PSP and put it in USB mode.
Then click on start.exe in the TOTALNewbie folder and read the instructions carefully.

actually if you can get a professional mini torch you can pre-heat the metal before placing it on the prongs

I created my own Pandora battery... and refixed it... It isn't really that hard. When you open the battery, don't dig too deep and try to steer clear off the top area. There's a band there with code I suppose.

Pop it open. After that, set all the "other material" to the side. Along on the left side, you'll see that little metal path running. Cut it, make your magic stick, hack.

Turn around use the pencil, redraw the line you cut, and presto. DOne this twice. No "wait" just straight up manufacturing. Good post OP!
